Double Indemnity Frame Analysis

The people in the photo (Keyes and Neff) are on opposite sides of the frame, with Keyes shrouded in darkness and Neff with the sunlight shining onto him through the window. The camera angle is from the perspective of the window, where the light is coming in from outside, and additionally the outfits that the men have are alternating colors, with Keyes in the dark coat and hat with his head down, glaring at Neff with his light grey vest on. Neff is also slouched down in the chair after he's been shot in the shoulder, bleeding into his previously clean jacket. He's holding the recording device in his hands, looking over at Keyes with a distressed but knowing look on his face, as he knows that Keyes was there to hear much of his confession unintentionally. The overall mood of the frame is a composite of the lighting creating a divide between the two main characters in the shot, as well as the small detail of the men behind the glass door where their shadows are cast onto it. That possibly foreshadows some sort of impending fate awaiting Neff after he's been caught in the act of double murder. The focal point draws the viewer first to Neff and then to Keyes, and this also correlates with the rule of thirds being applied in the shot.

Minority Report Shot Analysis

In this frame, Whitwer is lookin through glass into the Temple, where the three Precogs reside and generate their visions of the murders. What is clearly visible is Whitwer's face, bearing a look of awe, confusion and concern. Throughout the film, he is determined to find some flaw in the Pre-Crime system in order to bring to light any inhumane aspects of the program. At this particular moment, what would probably be running through his mind is the thought of if these people are being forcefully kept there, potentially against their will, and if it's even legal to use these people for the purpose that they're being used for.

Danny Whitwer is part of the Department of Defense, and he is investigating the Precrime facility not only to determine if there is any reason to alter or even shut down the program altogether, but additionally to see if he is fit for taking over Tom's position in the Precrime force as well.
